Our Impact

We know the problems facing our industry. The system was not designed for nonprofits. It was designed for funders. Nonprofit laws were written to protect individual wealth, and nonprofit efforts are in response to shrinking government and public support.

This environment has created common behaviors. There’s a lack of productive collaboration amongst organizations with similar missions and programs.  Funder priorities are ever-evolving, and it can be difficult to keep up and ensure that your organization remains relevant in a shifting landscape.  Staff development is often deprioritized, and young/mid-career professionals are exiting the sector because of a lack of perceived opportunities. Training and coaching for new managers are basically non-existent.  Organizations write job descriptions that require expertise in several sub-specialties and agonize when they can’t find a unicorn to fit their exact qualifications. It is difficult to recruit and retain high-functioning board members. Strategic plans get written, shoved in a drawer and never looked at again.

We get it.  And we’re here to help.

Our Clients

Our clients are disruptors. They approach their work through a social justice lens. They aren’t satisfied with the status quo. Their goal isn’t to make small, incremental change; rather, they propose bold solutions to big problems facing our city. We’re proud to support them on that journey.

While we’ve worked with a wide variety of clients, they tend to have a few things in common.  In general, we specialize in working with organizations with missions in education, youth development, technology and social/racial justice. We’ve been known to partner with start-ups and entrepreneurial entities.  We lean towards working with smaller organizations, often with a budget of less than $5 million and fewer than 20 full-time staff members. For our clients who are looking for fundraising support, we specialize in working with organizations without a full-time development staff and building a development office from the ground-up.
